Description:
CASA of San Mateo County matches community volunteers with children who have been abused and neglected. The volunteer becomes a friend, advocate and voice in court for the child. Advocates are trained in courtroom procedure, social services, the juvenile justice system and the special needs of abused and neglected children. With the information that volunteers provide, judges are able to make informed decisions as to what is best for the child. Volunteers advocate for children in other settings.
