Provides the public with information on environmental issues and demonstrates sustainable living. Projects include an Environmental Information Center, a store featuring books, gardening supplies and a variety of alternative products, a library and hotline, and the operation of a weekly curbside recycling program (multiple materials), three weekly farmers' markets in Berkeley, and offers classes in gardening and ecological living. The group publishes booklets and fact sheets on environmental topics. Maintains an extensive Web site with a calendar of community events and action alerts.
