Protects and advocates for the legal, civil and service rights of people with developmental disabilities.

Description:

One of 13 area-wide boards for developmental disabilities in the state of California established by the Lanterman Developmental Disabilities Services Act (1977). Advocates for the legal, civil and service rights of people with developmental disabilities in Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, San Francisco and San Mateo counties. The board is composed of two voting members appointed by the boards of supervisors of each county and five voting members appointed by the governor. All members of the board of directors are volunteers. Area Board V meets on the fourth Wednesday of the month at 7 pm. Call for location and dates.
