Description:

Receives and investigates complaints against all privately owned public utilities operating in California: electricity, gas, telephone and water. When requesting assistance, write a letter to this office describing the problem, give the name and address of the company involved and provide supporting documents. The CPUC will follow up and work to resolve the complaint. Formerly known as California State Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), Consumer Protection and Safety Division.
