Child Care Coordinating Council of San Mateo County (4Cs)

Provides subsidies and referrals for licensed family day care homes and centers, infant care, full-day child care, preschools and extended day care.

Description:

Provides information and support to families seeking and using child care, professional support and training to child care programs and providers, child care needs assessment, planning services and consultation on family issues in the workplace to employers and policy makers, and advocacy, leadership and collaboration on child care issues to the broader community. Programs include resource and referral to licensed providers, information on child care subsidies and other family support services. Free child care referrals are provided over the telephone, in person, or via the Web site. Information on state and federally subsidized child care throughout San Mateo County may be obtained via the state-funded Centralized Eligibility List (CEL). Placement on CEL is assigned a rank based on gross income and the number of individuals in the family. When funds become available, families with the greatest financial need are served and may be enrolled ahead of families who have been on the list for a longer period of time. Mary's Room, a Family Resource Center, provides parents with information and resources to support them in their parenting efforts. 4 C's supports parents and guardians, teachers and family childcare providers as they care for children with special needs. Services include trainings; information and referral; and books and equipment to support children with special needs.
