Samaritan House is a core service center offering bilingual community workers who provide case management, emergency services, information and referral, assistance in filling out forms and help with interpretation and translation needs (Spanish). Services include: -First and last month rental assistance and initial security deposits for those who meet the financial criteria -Adult education classes, including budgeting, financial literacy classes, English as a Second Language (ESL), and Diabetes classes (English and Spanish) -Vouchers for groceries and kids clothing/shoes The Samaritan House Kitchen serves a hot, nutritious meal Monday through Friday evenings, 4:30-6:00 pm, at the Masonic Hall, located at 100 North Ellsworth Avenue (at Tilton Avenue corner) in San Mateo. This program is intended to assist families or individuals in San Mateo County who are experiencing financial difficulties. "To-go" food boxes are available, and there is a mobile meals program for house-bound and elderly individuals. Samaritan House Free Clinics offer primary and specialty health care, including check-ups, prescriptions and referrals. Service (by appointment only) is available weekdays; some evening appointments may also be available. Safe Harbor Shelter is a 90-bed facility serving male and female San Mateo County adults (over 18). Safe Harbor offers meals, hygiene kits, comprehensive case management, nightly support groups and other services. The Worker Resource Center (650-344-1651) provides a link for employers and day laborers with construction, painting, hauling, moving and gardening skills. The Center is located at 400 East Fifth Avenue, San Mateo, and is open Monday-Friday, 7 am-2 pm; Saturday, 7 am-1 pm; and Sunday, 7 am-12 noon.
