Description:

This commission operates by authority of the County Charter, Article V Section 504. The five members appointed by the Board of Supervisors must not be residents of the same supervisorial district, a supervisor, officer or employee of the county. The commission hears appeals to dismissals, demotions or suspensions of employees, reviews requests for extension of eligible lists and allocates new or revised job classifications to an appropriate bargaining unit for employer/employee relations. Also hears appeals by persons adversely affected by administrative decisions of the Human Resources Director taken under authority of the Civil Service rules. Meetings are usually held on the first Thursday of the month at 8:30 am, in Room 402 of the County Office Building.
