Description:
Works to prevent HIV infection in the community at large and cares for individuals and families affected by HIV/AIDS. Services are delivered throughout San Mateo County from sites in Daly City, East Palo Alto, Menlo Park and San Mateo as well as via a mobile van. Also coordinates HIV testing at sites throughout the county and through the mobile van. Maintains a full-service HIV specialty clinic offering medical services, assistance with obtaining benefits and other services, psychiatric services, substance abuse counseling. Dental services are provided to clients on a referral basis by an HIV dental specialist. Comprehensive social services, including support groups, are available as well as housing assistance and groceries by referral. Administers ADAP (AIDS Drug Assistance Program) to assist with medication expenses. Provides a full range of on-site services such as social services, case management, health education and other services for HIV/AIDS patients in the county. Partner Services assists clients in notifying, anonymously if desired, sex and/or needle-sharing partners of potential exposure to HIV or another STD. Provides support and counseling to clients who wish to inform partners themselves, as well as confidential testing and information for referred partners. (650-573-3401) The drop-in STD clinic provides screening and treatment, prevention education and counseling of sexually transmitted diseases at low-cost. No appointment necessary. Clients are seen on a first-come, first-served basis. The STD Clinic is located in the Edison Clinic and is open Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 4-7 pm. (650-573-2385).Location
