Offers 24-hour emergency psychiatric services to people in emotional crisis. Contact may be by phone or visit to the emergency room at San Mateo Medical Center. The staff offers crisis intervention in immediate problems so that long-term solutions may be pursued. Provides information about and referral to a wide range of services including adolescent treatment programs, drug programs, abused women's and children's programs and alcohol programs. The staff does an evaluation on every person who may need psychiatric hospitalization at San Mateo Medical Center. This emergency psychiatric service supplements crisis teams available weekdays in the four mental health division regions.Location
