A literacy program for English-speaking adults, age 16 or over, living on the Coastside, who have a desire to improve their reading and writing skills. The program aims to bring adult learners to a functional reading level or to the level they desire for their daily living. Students are assigned a tutor-volunteer who has received 8 hours of instruction in teaching basic reading and writing. The tutor and student meet 2-3 hours a week at a site in the community.
