Description:
Provides full range of child welfare services from investigation of child abuse and neglect reports (Emergency Response), to intervention services to keep families together (Family Maintenance), to reunify families following removal of children from unsafe homes (Family Reunification), to make permamnent arrangements, such as adoption and legal guardianship, for children who cannot reside with their families (Permanency Services). Both voluntary and juvenile court-ordered services are provided. Emergency Response Services Program is a 24-hour response system for children who are in danger of abuse, neglect or assault. Risk to children is assessed and short-term services provided as appropriate. The Children's Shelter provides temporary emergency residential care, custody, supervision and counseling for abused and neglected children until a decision regarding appropriate placement can be made. Admission must be authorized by the social worker for children who are alleged victims of abuse and neglect or children who are already dependents of the Juvenile Court. Foster Home Adoptions and Licensing Program provides services to license people who are interested in becoming foster parents or adopting a child. Services are also available to voluntarily relinquish children.Location
