Women's Overseas Service League

A chapter of a national organization composed of women who have served overseas in or with the Armed Forces.

Description:

A chapter of a national organization, founded in 1921, composed of women who have served overseas in or with the Armed Forces. Members may also have served with the American Red Cross, Army Special Services, USO, Salvation Army or CIA. The national organization administers a trust fund to support requirements in the form of grants and loans for those eligible. The organization has established a scholarship fund for women who are actively pursuing a college degree. Funds are available semi-annually for women who are continuing their education. National projects include Freedoms Foundation of Valley Forge, Hospitalized Veterans Writing Project, Wounded Warriors, Operation SAM (Support All Military) and the Women in Military Service Memorial at Arlington. The league meets the second Saturday of each month. Call for more information on eligibility for membership, grants and scholarships.
