The Latino Commission’s first residential substance use treatment and addiction recovery program funded by San Mateo County in 1992 was for Latino women, Casa Maria in Brisbane, and then another women’s residential house in 1998, at Casa Adelita, in San Bruno. TLC began to respond to the pressing need of pregnant women by accepting pregnant women and children into treatment and providing support on a case by case basis. In 1998, TLC became state-licensed as a pregnant/post-partum treatment provider at Casa Maria. In 1993, we opened a transitional housing program for women, Casa Xochitl in Daly City, was co-ed. TLC has provided substance abuse treatment services for Latino Men since 1992, with a residential treatment program at Casa Aztlan in North Fair Oaks (Redwood City) and then Casa Los Hermanos in San Bruno in 1998. TLC initiated Entre Familia in 2000 to provide outpatient services to both men and women from a licensed facility in South San Francisco.
